9th February 2003
Narasimha
Rao, the producer of Raasi Movies banner, has paid Rs 15 lakhs and
Rs 10 lakhs as an advance to VV Vinayak and Prabhas respectively
long time back for a film to be made from February 2003 onwards
on Raasi Movies banner.
But,
mean while VV Vinayak has got an irresistible offer of directing
Chiranjeevi for the Telugu remake of Tamil film Ramana. Hence VV
Vinayak has requested Narasimha Rao to delay the Prabhas project
for 3 months so that he could complete the direction of Chiranjeevi
film in the meantime.
Narasimha
Rao has approached Dasari for justice. Dasari who used to solve
the problems in the industry couple of years ago came into limelight
by taking the initiative in solving this problem. He called up on
VV Vinayak to discuss the issue and after much deliberation, VV
Vinayak has accepted to pay 35 lakhs as compensation to Narasimha
Rao for not honoring his commitment to direct the film on Raasi
banner. VV Vinayak has given a signed-letter promising to pay 35
lakhs as compensation as soon as he receives the remuneration from
Oscar Ravi Chandran for directing the remake of Ramana.
The
entire episode has taken place without the knowledge of AP Film
Directors Association. It is sad that VV Vinayak had to ditch two
people - Samudra and Narasimha Rao - to get two projects (Chenna
Kesava Reddy and remake of Ramana). Bala Krishna and Chiranjeevi
are directly or indirectly responsible for the issues dealing with
VV Vinayak. It is unfortunate to see ethics and moral attitudes
are taking a back seat. The producer/director should have approached
the AP Film Directors union and made it official.
